Completion of the Hydraulic Tunnel of Valico Pavoncelli Bis – Works Supervision and Safety Coordination during the execution of the works

The work consists of the completion of the alternative tunnel to the “Pavoncelli” tunnel (built in the early 1900s), part of the Sele-Calore aqueduct, the initial stretch of the main canal of the Apulian Aqueduct. Tunnel, called “Pavoncelli bis”, is  an alternative to the historic tunnel to transfer water from the Sanità Spring and the complex Cassano Irpino springs to  Puglia. The work included a tunnel of about 9.5 km excavated with a TBM and three service tunnels excavated in traditional tunnels as well as an interconnection shaft and a complex collection system that exploits the flow rates involved for the production of electricity through a hydroelectric power plant. The Works Supervision also involved the verification of compliance with the requirements of the EIA and consequent environmental monitoring.
